What is Udemy?
Udemy is an online learning platform where students can attend, and teachers can publish courses. Udemy’s mission is to democratize education. The courses cover all possible topics from photography and web development to finance and presentation skills. A lot of courses are for free, premium courses cost a fee and range in price from about $19-$299. Trainers include well-known business leaders such as Jack Welch as well as previously unknown subject matter experts. In order to charge for courses, you need to be approved by Udemy to make sure the courses and the trainers are of good quality.
Udemy was launched in 2010 and today it has over 6000 courses and 500,000 registered students. The company raised 1 million dollars in initial funding by investments from 11 people including the early investor in YouTube and LinkedIn and recently another 12 million dollars was raised.
